Our friends Wandile, Brandon, Sharne, and Ayanda came from Johannesburg to visit us over the weekend. This was kind of a big deal seeing as very few crews from further than Bloemfontein seem to make it out this way other than Midway Mayhem and the Skateboarding World Championships (the Rand isn’t quite in first place at the moment).
Since Friday was a bust due to the rain (except for a few minutes, watch the clip below), Saturday brought in a nice crowd and it didn’t take long for a filming session to break out. Wandile came through with his Sony VX and proceeded to point it everywhere, filming for an edit for Homegrwn Media. Can’t wait to check that edit out!
On Sunday we were greeted by the blazing sun and a huge group for our always growing Skate Lesson Sundays free weekly skate clinic. Our friend Sharne always comes to participate in our Women’s Street Contests and she was a big hit at the skatepark over the weekend as all the girls wanted to hang out, skate with, and learn a few things from her. She was super keen to get involved as a guest coach at Skate Lesson Sundays as well and got several of the girls stoked.
Check out a bunch of photos and videos from the weekend below!

On to Saturday. Our friend Wandile Msomi from Jozi and company came down to visit for the weekend. Wandile captured what will have been the first VX footage shot at the Kumba Skate Plaza. These kids just don’t know!

Our buddy Brandon works for Skateistan in Johannesburg and made it out to Kimberley for the weekend to skate the park.

Time to sign up for Skate Lesson Sundays!
Sharne from Johannesburg was a magnet for all the girl skaters at the park (which are quite a few these days) and was teaching everyone some new stuff. She didn’t hesitate to help out during Skate Lesson Sundays, either!
This is the weekly ritual for Skate Lesson Sundays. Group chat, stretch it out, and get to it.
