Over the last few years, Midway Mayhem has served as one of the year’s largest gathering of South African skateboarders aside from the Kimberley Diamond Cup main event, usually held in October. Over 100 skaters from all over South Africa hit the Kumba Skate Plaza for a shot at some dough. In the end, Midway Mayhem defending champ Khule Ngubane defended his title yet again, but not without a heavy head-to-head match against Moses Adams in the finals. Khule’s tre flip lipslide and Moses’ bigspin heelflip to boardslide down the handrail had Kimberley screaming. Check back for all of that footage soon.
Aside from that, we also held the Top Grom (ages 13-), Rider Cup, Women’s Street, and Vert contests. Brian Stylianou proved himself worthy of a spot in the TopGrom finals at KDC this October and team Two Traes One Cup ended up placing 1st out of all the Rider Cup teams, thus winning themselves a spot in the Rider Cup Finals. Kimberley vert ripper Damian Bramley took his first vert contest and Kelly Murray notched another KDC Women’s Street win into her belt. Results from all can be found below.
