Skateboarding for Hope Supported By DC Shoes

Skateboarding For Hope (SFH), Supported by DC Shoes Africa, is a community outreach initiative presented in part by the Northern Cape Provincial Government. Skateboarding For Hope events take place all winter in South Africa, leading up to the KDC World Championships in October.

Skateboarding For Hope consist of positive messages spread through skateboarding clinics for everyone—from absolute beginners to skaters who need additional guidance, skateboarding giveaways, and a skateboarding contest which gives skaters a shot at earning a Wild Card entry into the Top Grom Championships and South African Street Championships in October at the Kimberley Diamond Cup.

The competition aspect of SFH features two age divisions, Top Grom (ages 13-) and Open Division (ages 14+). The top 3 skaters in the Top Grom division will earn vouchers for product prizes and a slot in the 2016 Top Grom Championships at Kimberley Diamond Cup. On specified dates*****, the top 3 (previously unqualified) skaters in the 14+ division will earn cash prizes and the top skater will earn a wildcard entry to the KDC South African Championships this October 3-8 at Kimberley Diamond Cup. In 2016, Skateboarding For Hope events will be held in Somerset West, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Soweto, Durban, Upington, Cape Town, De Aar, Springbok, Kuruman, and George, as well as the Northern Cape rural towns of Postmasburg, Kathu, Homevale, Greenpoint, and Roodepan.

UPDATE 7/2016: Last Minute Rider Cup Qualifiers will be held at the above remaining SFH tour stops. Each stop will award one qualifying team a spot in the Rider Cup Championships at Kimberley Diamond Cup 2016. No cash prizes for winning Rider Cup teams will be awarded at these stops.

* This event features the Skateboarding for Hope skate clinic and competition, however, ONLY wildcard entries to KDC TopGrom Champs are awarded at this event.

** This event features the Skateboarding for Hope skate clinic and competition, however, NO wildcard entries to KDC SA Champs are awarded at this event.

*** This event is featured as a part of our KDC Grand Slam Regional Qualifiers and will feature the Skateboarding for Hope skate clinic for underprivileged youth integrated into our program.

(TG) This event yileds 5 TopGrom winners to compensate for no TopGrom event at KDC Grand Slam Cape Town Regional Qualifiers at Ultimate X.

(RC) This event features a last-minute Rider Cup Qualifying event. There are no cash prizes in this category however the top team will qualify to skate in the Rider Cup Championships this 3-8 October at Kimberley Diamond Cup.
